On May 28 there was a TEDx Sydney thing happening, and it was broadcast LIVE on YouTube from 8:30am.

Glen graciously offered a large screen so we could join in the group exposure to the current world of thinking and art and education and science and performance and THE LOST THING!

Doors at the Adamstown Heights TED-pad opened at 11, and we saw Shaun Tan’s The Lost Thing with Michael Yezerski, clasical music with animation of the book by Shaun Tan.  Glen cooked an amazing guiness steak pie, and there was fabulous salads and dips and cheeses as we all pitched in for a late lunch/dinner. 

  The conclusion of this event wasn’t at 8:45pm with PAUL KELLY, it was later with friends and guitars and you tube sing alongs!

All round we had an awesome day, however many of the presentations were lacking actual ideas, or rather there were ideas but not way of making them reality…or perhaps it was just that one lady who really turned me off (plastic steel lady?).  We watched some older TED talks in the breaks and were able to get into discussions about childrens education.  Is it killing creativity?  I thorougly enjoyed the Lost Thing, what is the lost thing?, i like that we had some good discussions on the day and awesome food. yay friends. 

My feeling poorly on the health side has improved my movie watching ability.  Neither of these things being helpful in finding me my dream job.  Internet searches, fielding phone calls and smiling seem to be helping though. 

I went to visit my G’ma (mama) in the retirement village yesterday, it was a bit sad and depressing, and then I went to see my G’Pa (papa) who also is not coping so well.  I understand the RTA for having to keep the roads safe but restricting older people to a 30Km radius is like cutting off their legs. 

Also on a side note, I am going to try and give blood nest week.  If I am feeling better on the snuffly nose side of things.

So on saturday 21 Adrian and I drove to Newcastle airport to pick up Georgie who I had never met before, she’s awesome!  …’and then’ we drove to buladelah to drink coffee, buy bourban and coke, kerosene and a croisant.  After this epic “CK” (the sound of the beginning of all the things we bought in Bul-ad-el-ah) break we were on our way on the Lakes way to seal Rocks Treachery Beach camp.  We couldn’t figure out the name until we got to the rocky dirt road we had to turn down to get to it. 

$13 a night was a good deal, and you are right on the beach.  We were tucked up in a remote corner of the camp, due to the large size of the group and at Raels request. 

The tribe was having a pass the stick meeting around the campfire when we arrived and it was several hours until lunch.  We talked, walked to the beach, drew penis’s in the sand, ate a yummy BBQ and played drinking games like fuzzy duck and questions.  After the hours of these we crawled fairly plied into our tents to crash out for a few hours.  The following day consisted of hungover hugs, another beach walk and a few knicker swimmers, more hugs of ‘see you later’ and a car bonnet lunch before we drove to Foster to see Rael before he embarks on his epic move to America. 

The drive home was a sad realisation that we may or may not be moving to brisbane and may or may not get to see these people more than once or twice a year.  It also was the end of my holiday and the back to reality, of looking for a job on monday morning.

Yummy $6 breakfast eggs on toast and a coffee.  We enjoyed a movie and a nap.

Hire a car, drove to Takaka, to stay at a backpacker hostel in a caravan.  Went for a meal at the awesome Mussel Inn and listened to Keepsakes a production with Anna Coddington and Julia Deans.  8.30pm $20

Drove to Onekaka to see Victoria via the Pupu springs.  Visit to Moonbow, Victoria offered for us to stay the night, an offer too good to refuse.  We also went to Whariki beach and ate peanut butter sandwiches for dinner.

Drove to Paynes Ford on the way out of town, weather not cooperating.  Raining and misty.  Drove to Nelson to the WOW museum.

After gawking at some awesome garments and old school cars drove to Picton to give the car back via the winding road along the coast, not our best decision, made us kinda sick, but finally in the afternoon arrived at the Jugglers Rest Backpackers, paradise with a fire!

Ferry from Picton back to Wellington at stupid o’clock again with Bluebridge smelt a little like cow poo, I think we must have been ferrying with a few.  nice ferry though, with cosy chairs that lay back, reasonable food and beer.
